Description

Treeless, open, convex mires with vegetation dominated by Sphagnum mosses, dwarf shrubs of the family Ericaceae and herbs (Cyperaceae). The surface is characterised by complexes of hummocks (Sphagnion magellanici), hollows and bog pools (kolks) (Rhynchosporion albae). In Sweden at the bog margins with Pinus sylvestris and far to the south-west with Betula pubescens at the margins.
